What small-time rancher in the 1890s had money enough for a luxury like a brassiere? Money was usually tight, it was hard enough just to buy essentials like salt, sugar, flour, cloth, shoes, tack, etc. They bought only things they couldn't make, grow or hunt. A luxury like a brassiere likely had to be shipped in from 'back east', like Chicago, St. Louis, or NY. Just my 2¢.
