It definitely is not as good without weed. Weed and DXM might go better together than any other combo I can think of. Weed takes the nausea away and melds with the DXM in a way that makes it feel like DXM was designed to go with weed. edit: weed is always a given, forgot to mention it but I do remember my smoke sesh during this trip and it definitely potentiated both DXM and LSD by a lot.
