First off, the story was phenomenal. I think the thing that struck me was the reality of it. You allowed realworld consequences, the conflict, even the big fight. So many of these stories just assume that theres a happily ever after involved and no consequences. Though the ending was happy, the conflict that the main character felt was very realistic, believable, amd well-conveyed.
As a medical professional however, I enjoyed the use of the SSRI as a very clever and creative plot device but have to mention that these results are not typical. Low dise SSRIs ARE commonly used for males with premature ejaculation problems, BUT the therapeutic window us VERY narrow. More often, the result is erectile dysfunction or total anorgasmia. I hope folks do not rush out and get an SSRI thinking they will last forever. All in all however, my most sincere and enthusiastic compliments on an amazing story. Thank you for sharing!

Fun story. Everyone got some in the end. Each of them had their big O regardless of their partner. I still don’t fully understand Kirstin’s total opposition to having a child. Lauren’s attitude towards Jacob changed dramatically. It should be noted that SSRI antidepressants are infamous for causing genital numbness. Total loss of feeling is not uncommon during treatment. In some cases it can be reversed by stopping the drug. This should be done under a doctor’s supervision. Be vigilant.

I appreciate it. I haven't written a word of fiction in decades, so to be brutally honest, this is an experiment in progress, and I need to see what works. I'm posting to other catagories for the same reason. So feedback is important.
As to this story, it was racing around in my skull, getting in the way of me working on other stories. It was just easier to write it and post it than to try to ignore it.
Since I got a ping on this in private: if you know anyone taking SSRI medication, nobody should quit those without close physician supervision. Doing so can increase suicidal impulses.

as someone stuck in a dead sexless marriage -- less than 10 times a year for seeral years --I THINK I know WHY Mark is reluctant to end it all and divorce.



He starts off hoping his wife is just going thru some sort of phase ...or perhaps something is wrong with her? Mark is finally seeing he has to FORCE the issue.



In MY case my wife suffers from depression and migraines which have gotten worse as she moves thru her 40s.



That has left ME in Limbo. IF my wife takes her Cymbalta she is Fine. Her sex drive returns to near normal (for her NOT for most woman) and her depression goes away. But sometimes for some reason she stops taking her meds but I dont find out for several weeks.



What am I to do? I cant force her to stay on her medication but when she goes off of it she becoems an awful person. After 15 years of marriage and a few kids I and the kids all suffer when she does that.

I wonder why so much angst about categories in this category. Don't understand this level of concern. For the author. A person can get a MS with a major in psychology. One can get a masters in psychology. One can get a PhD in psychology. I have one in neuropsychology. One cannot get a masters in Psychiatry. Psychiatry is a medical jargon word basically. To be a psychiatrist first get a undergrad degree. Then a medical degree. Get thru an internship. Then do your residency in psychiatry. Then do what needs to be done to be board certified. Rarely meet decent psychiatrists these days. Used to. Too many are so immersed in drug therapy they have no idea that things like EFT are more effective. Or that SAMe works for depression while anti depressants do not work and often make the depression worse leading to suicidal or homicidal ideation. Did you know that most, if not all, the mass killers were taking or had been taking an SSRI. Drug companies hide that don't they. Oh well just an unimportant point of info. A masters in psychiatry does not exit.

Hate to shit on your parade but in my field one of the secrets is that antidepressants do not work. In fact they can make an acute period of depression into clinical and on going depression. SSRi are noted for an after effect. Suicidal thoughts and homicidal fantasies. In fact most of the mass killers have been on an SSRI before the shooting. I have seen our treatment of depression be so bad. Let me tell you about the wife of a really good friend. There was an ethical issue about me seeing her. She had doubts because I use different tools other than pharmaceuticals. Things like Omega 3, Vitamin D3, SAMe and a few other. Even mainstream practioners know exercise is a treatment but if they are depressed they do not have the energy to do so. This young woman was clinical depressed with psychotic episodes. Part of the episodes is that she would think there were bugs under her skin on her face. She would pick at her skin to get them our leaving her face with deep scratches. She went through several programs both outpatient and inpatient. She was prescribed many antidepressants and other drugs used to treat other conditions but were ok for off model treatment of depression. She lost a high paying executive position. She lost a few at places like Walmart. Finally, she was pulled over by a state trooper, tested, arrested for DUI only it was a drug other than alcohol. It was one of the drugs she had been prescribed for her depression. Self medication at its worst. Now she is the system. Got an idiot of a judge and a fool of a ADA. Fined. Jailed. Her expenses were do great for her previous treatments that even at 65,000 a year my friend could not pay. Lost one more job by failing drug test. Got another but because she failed the random drug test had to go to jail again. Had to serve on none work days. After all this and 9 years my friend finally convinced himself he could not help and he morally was ok to seek divorce. And custody of a 12 yr old boy. SHe had never been unfaithful sexually. But she hid the DUI as long as possible. The drug addiction. She had been verbally abusive and had tried to hit him with bats and brooms etc. No sex for 7 years. Folks drug therapy for depression and other mental illnesses are mostly a failure and if successful they cause other problems. I have acquaintances who are statisticians who made a good living working p[art time for large pharmaceutical co. to massage data so the companies could show a significant difference where one did not exist. The FDA would then approve the drug. So the drugs do not work.
