I am a 71 year old male and I have suffered from depression since I was 7 years old. I have bipolar depression and clinical depression chronic ongoing. that last one means I've had it since I was child and I'll have it till the day I die. Which can't come soon enough. If you or somebody you know suffers from depression please get yourself or them some help. Be compassionate.

On a technical point, one CAN have hallucinations and/or delusions with Major Depression or Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression), although it didn't really sound like the wife was experiencing either. Was she in a vulnerable place? Of course.
Again, it is fascinating that so many get so upset about a fictional character.

I really related to a lot of this. I am a 71 year old male and I have had clinical depression chronic ongoing since I was 7 years old. They did not know what to call it back then. 25 years ago I was also diagnosed with bipolar depression. So if you know people that's going through this oh, please get them help. I don't do it anymore but I tried to commit suicide 15 times. The first time I was 7 years old.

I enjoyed the story, but there was one part I have to say I found extremely ignorant. When Bryn says that Hayden isn't right, that he may have bipolar or manic depression, you are feeding into the misconception that someone with a mental illness is automatically violent and a danger to others. As someone with bipolar, the only person in likely to hurt is myself.
If you choose to use such comparisons in the future, please do your research and choose a more appropriate disorder. The best option, though, would be to not use mental illness as a possible excuse.
