Sonata is a shitty form of ambien. Biggest difference is you'll wake up a lot quicker. So if you have to be up in 4 hours for something and you take sonata you'll be ready to go where as with Ambien you'll feel groggy. Ambien works better overall.

Ambien works great for me. I get 4-5 hours of sleep and wake up refreshed and ready to go. Make sure you test it at home before you go.
Benzos gave me no RLS relief or help my sleep. Ambien did help my sleep some but like you I would still wake up after 4 or 5 hours and struggle
