I find it incredibly unlikely that anyone would intentionally ingest a sulfa drug if they knowingly have a serious allergy. Not only could it cause anaphylaxis (which happened in the story) but there is also the possibility of Stevens Johnson. He is a trauma nurse so he would be more than acutely aware of the risk. He should also know that there could have been an emt delay. It can happen .
At the least he would have had an epi nearby just in case.

Finishing my comment, my problem with your story is that I'm reading it before boarding my American Airlines flight to Arizona. What a great time to find this great story. I'll need an extra Benadryl for this one.

though Duke does seem to have terrible luck with his love life. He does have to find out a lot more about what happened with Merrilee before falling in love again. By the way, Coaster2 does believe in people learning and changing. Since it is my profession, I believe in it too!
