Characters who act like they are aliens from another solar system rather than humans are only to be expected when they actually are aliens from another solar system.
When no one the reader has ever met would act even remotely similar to the way the characters act then the reader loses connection to the story.
As a seperate shield? (if so how would the Invictus fire through them to attack the enemy?)
