For a few months now.Sorry for the lengthy explanation post but this is really bothering me and I don't know how to bring this up with my psychiatrist without sounding like I'm angling for a bigger fix or accusing him of getting my meds wrong. Any help would be really appreciated, thanks! Added 6 Nov 2012:Okay, more information:The way Adderall XR works is that half of the medication is released instantly, and it lasts for around 4 hours. The second half is then released around that time as it is contained in slower dissolving capsules.My question is then, if the pill is called 'Adderall XR 20mg' then are those two doses releasing 10mg initially and then 10mg four hours later, or are they 20mg and 20mg?Ideally I would like to be on a continuous dose throughout the day, so if I'm taking 20mg IR in the evening then I either want to know why my psychiatrist is insisting I take 10mg-10mg-20mg or if I have it wrong and I AM taking a continuous dose and I just feel like the IR is working better.Sorry I was unclear! 2 doses of 10 4-6 hours apart reverentsentinel 26 Feb 2020 So, one Idea, that differs from the rest that I read. So, you have a prescription that covers taking 1x 20mg XR in the morning, and 1x 20mg IR in the evening... what is to prevent you from taking the IR in the morning,
