Funding helps sporting family
The Chambers family love to play sport, with three active children (Yasmine, Zara and Cameron) there are lots of financial outgoings in the Chambers family, from Merseyside.

Yasmine, age 12, is a promising golfer and her siblings Zara,10, and nine-year-old Cameron are both talented footballers, who play and train several times a week. So the Chambers family were delighted to receive a grant from the England Golf Trust for Yasmine as it really helps to ease the cost-of-living pressures.
A member at Wallasey Golf Club, Yasmine has managed to reduce her handicap within a year from 18.2 to 9.3 – through hard work and lessons.
She is progressing at club and county level and won her first county competition in May 2025 – and is delighted to have her name on the winners’ board of the Stuart Davies Cup in the club house. She has also represented her school in the English schools’ golf competition and is now in the first team at Cheshire Country Junior girls.
‘This funding means a lot to me. My mum and dad support me but I know it’s expensive for my family because we all play sport. They have to take me all over the place, pay competition fees, membership and my coaching. It all costs a lot.’
Yasmine’s golf journey began three years’ ago after her dad started taking her to the driving range. ‘I kept asking him to take me, then when we went, I was hooked straight away.’
She now plays at least three times a week with her dad, friends and in competitions – including twice a week with her coach. ‘I love golf. I’m very competitive so I like playing competitions to see how well I can do against some good golfers.’
Yasmine loves playing different courses and meeting new people. She aims to reduce her handicap to single figures and progress towards England regional squad selection. She would also like to win another major at club level, try to win the county championship and do well in an open competition.
‘I love playing golf and being with my dad who is always there to support me and caddy for me when he can. I’m always trying to do my best and it’s also great to meet new people of all different ages and backgrounds through the sport.
‘Thank you, England Golf Trust, playing golf means a lot to me. It’s such a help to the family.’ said Yasmine.
