Golf means the world to me
Siobhan O’Dwyer, aged 11, from The Links Golf Club, Newmarket, was awarded a set of Ping Prodi G Clubs from the Trust at the beginning of 2024 – and since then her handicap has reduced by more than half to 12.0.
The new clubs have supercharged her golfing performance and helped her win a place in the Faldo Series Futures Final, as well as the national team knockouts in Spalding, and a place in the Cambs & Hunts Junior match squad.

Now, the promising young golfer aims to “get better and better and one day play professional golf!”
Before the award, Siobhan was using Ai Lynx golf clubs which she had grown out of and had heard lots great things from friends who play with Ping-Prodi G clubs. She can now certainly back up those claims.
“Golf means the world to me. I love it and wish I could play every day. I started playing four years ago. My dad got me into it and signed me up for the Girls Golf Rocks activity at Bury St Edmunds Golf Club,” said Siobhan.
“I now play every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and on Wednesday evenings in the summer holidays. I play with various ladies at my club and with my sister Phoebe who is seven and plays off the reds,” she added.
Siobhan’s golf has gone from strength to strength. She won the final of the Faldo Futures Series, came runner-up in the Wee Wonders grand final at Gullane, and has been to the Junior World Championships in San Diageo where she will compete again in 2026 having qualified.
Her coach, PGA Professional Sarah Smith, at the junior academy at The Links Golf Club, said she has a natural ability for the game. “But more importantly at this young age, she had a real passion for golf,” said Sarah.
“She is a joy to coach, and scoring just keeps getting better and better. The hard graft is certainly paying off! We have big hopes for Siobhan and we are all so proud of her here at the Links!”
