Thanks to new clubs from the Trust

Young player Yvie Chase loves golf – but her half set of mixed clubs were too small and made up of different lengths and weights. Her grandad bought them for her three years ago and she needed some new ones.

The Trust stepped in to help the 11-year-old who plays at Rookery Park Golf Club, Lowestoft, with a half set of custom fit Ping Prodi-G clubs.

“Thank you, England Golf Trust. I love playing golf, I love it when I do a good shot with my new clubs. It means a lot that you believed in me to do well. The clubs have really helped to improve my game,” she says.

Dad Ryan is also delighted at the improvements she has made since receiving the clubs. “These clubs have genuinely enhanced Yvie’s enjoyment of golf and provided her with the opportunity to progress much more quickly,” he says.

“Thank you once again for giving Yvie this wonderful opportunity – it really has made a difference to her golfing journey.”

Recently, with help from her new clubs, she achieved her first official handicap and is now down to 28.5 – a huge milestone at her young age.

Playing in the Golf Sixes competitions at Rookery Park and at other clubs in her area, she has been named player of the competition several times.

Lead Coach at Rookery Park Golf Club and PGA Professional, Richard Smith, said Yvie is always very polite and has a positive and fun personality. “She is a credit to the golf club and works hard to improve her golf every week. Correctly fitting clubs are helping her improve,” he said.

Calvin Sherwood, the Assistant Professional at Rookery Park Golf Club has also been involved in Yvie’s coaching since she was eight years old and has played a big part in her development and love for the game.
