This is an opportunity to help shape the future of a charity with a simple but powerful purpose: ensuring that people facing the greatest barriers can continue to access and enjoy the sport we all care so deeply about.

Golf has the power to improve lives. It builds confidence, supports physical and mental wellbeing, creates friendships and strengthens communities. Yet for many people, financial circumstances, disability or other barriers can make participation difficult.

The England Golf Trust exists to change that.

As we enter an ambitious new chapter, we are investing in the future of the Trust, expanding our fundraising capability, strengthening partnerships and increasing the impact we have across England. To support that ambition, we are seeking an experienced finance professional to join our Board of Trustees as our Finance Lead.

If you are motivated by combining strategic financial leadership with meaningful social impact, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Purpose of the Role

The Finance Lead will oversee the financial affairs of the Trust and ensure that they are conducted properly, in line with legal, constitutional, and regulatory requirements. The role provides strategic guidance on financial matters, supports sound decision-making, and helps ensure the long-term sustainability of the Trust.

Skills and Experience

• Qualified accountant (or equivalent experience) with knowledge of charity finance.
• Experience of financial management and reporting, ideally within a charity or not-for-profit organisation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-specialists.
• Knowledge of relevant charity law and financial regulations.
• Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of the England Golf Trust.

Commitment

• Attendance at 3 in-person Board meetings annually, plus online meetings as required.
• Attendance at Governance and Risk Committee meetings, usually 3 annually, online.
• Additional time commitment for financial oversight, estimated at 4 hours per month.
• Willingness to liaise with external advisors, accountants, and regulators as required.
